The Transformative Power of Reiki
This past October I was scrolling my Facebook feed and happened to see that a friend was struggling with a major infection in her toe. It was so bad, in fact, that they were scheduled to admit her to the hospital the next day for IV antibiotics and perhaps surgery. Immediately upon seeing this I felt led to reach out to her. I sent her a text message and offered to do a distance Reiki healing session to see if it would offer some relief. She had been very familiar with this healing practice and gratefully accepted my offer.
She lives approximately 30 minutes from me and due to Covid-19 restrictions, I could not arrange to see her in person. I explained to her that this type of healing does not require the participant to be in the same physical location as the practitioner. I asked her to take a picture of her foot and to find a quiet place to listen to some soft music and try to relax for 40 minutes or so. On my end, I performed the Reiki session just as if she was in the same room with me with the same intentions and focus. When I was finished, I sent her a message to drink extra water that night and try and rest. She reiterated the excruciating pain she was in, but promised that she would try. This was approximately 9 PM on Tuesday night.
About 11 hours later I reached out to my friend to see how she was. She was in a state of bewilderment because her toe look like it had completely healed. She had no pain, swelling, or discomfort. She took another photo and sent it to me, it was truly like night and day. She had an appointment with her doctor shortly after that communication and she reached out to me to tell me that the infection had all been cleared up and the doctor was puzzled. I smiled to myself and felt a sense of overwhelming joy at the wonder of the human body. To be able to tap into such powerful and transformative healing power is a remarkable thing to say the least. This story is one of many that I could tell about my experience with traditional Reiki energy work over the last 20+ years.
So what is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese form of medicine, although it is not nontraditional according to western standards. Essentially the medicine involved is the universal energy that exists throughout out all of time and space. Reiki utilizes specific techniques to harness this energy and infuse it into another person’s energy field and body to promote healing. This healing is not limited to the client’s physical body. It also restores spiritual, emotional, and psychological well-being. In the years I have been utilizing Reiki for my own healing and others, I have seen miracles unexplainable using words. He has been working with Reiki for 25 years.
